The latest offering for the Maximite series of computers - the new all powerful CMM2. The emphasis is on ease of use and, as a result, a first time user could enter a small program and have it running within minutes. While the ease-of-use and built-in BASIC concept is borrowed from computers of the 80's the technology used is very much up to date. This processor includes its own video controller and generates a VGA output at resolutions up to by pixels and with up to bit color. Despite this unit running a BASIC programming interpreter which is usually considdered slow , the CMM2 can process your program at more then , lines per-second. That is very, very fast! The Color Maximite is designed to be simple and fun. Our version of the Color Maximite 2 is the same as the kit version from magazine articles, except that ours is an assembled board. Step 1: The Required Parts & Hardware
It has been immensley successful with over a thousand built by enthusisasts around the world and is used for everything from navigating a boat to controlling a heating system. The colourful LCD panel can display text and graphics in 65, colours on its crisp by pixel display. The complete assembly is designed to plug into a solderless breadboard where any interface components can be tested. Then, when the design is complete, the interface circuit can be transferred to a custom PCB or strip board which can be mounted on the back of the Micromite LCD Backpack making a three layer sandwich. The result is a low cost but powerful controller which is very easy to program. This feature costs only a few dollars to implement and is great value for what it does. In the original Backpack design both of these functions had to be supplied by external devices.
