Dragon Ball Super's Tournament of Power Redeemed Gohan
While this definitely would've made for a drastically different series, Toriyama decided against it, under the impression that Gohan wouldn't be the hero that the story needed. Below are five reasons that support why he should, along with five that prove that the current Goku and Vegeta status quo should never go. Since he's not a full-blooded Saiyan, Gohan won't behave in the same way that Goku and Vegeta do. Whatever fans might say about the episode as a whole, it was refreshing to see a man who could blend in with the public, fight against otherworldly villains, and navigate his marriage in a way that Goku and Vegeta never could. This makes Goku and Vegeta the torchbearers of a near-extinct lineage untainted by the bloodlines of other races. From the minute fans first met Gohan, it was clear that he wasn't a natural-born warrior like his father. While they don't look it, Goku and Vegeta are creeping ever more closely to 50! While Saiyans naturally age slower than humans, there will come a time when Goku and Vegeta won't be able to fight the same way that they used to. Gohan, on the other hand, is only 23 years of age.
A Decisive Kamehameha! He is the elder son of the series' primary protagonist Goku and his wife Chi-Chi , the older brother of Goten , the husband of Videl and father to Pan. He is named after Goku's adoptive grandfather, Gohan. Unlike his father, Gohan lacks a passion for fighting although, he does possess a strong power within him and prefers to do so only when his loved ones are threatened. Gohan takes after his father mostly in appearance, including Goku's facial features, black eyes and even his spiky hair. At the same time, he has his mother's light peach complexion rather than his father's light tan. Also taking after his father, Gohan inherited a Saiyan tail , which was long and prehensile with brown fur. It was removed and regrew a few times during his childhood until removed permanently by Vegeta in their first battle. When first introduced as a young child, he had short and spiky but relatively well-kept hair.
However, due to the various threats to the Earth, she reluctantly allows him to fight, with him ultimately becoming one of the strongest characters in the series. Gohan has been well received by both fans and critics, the latter usually citing the character's growth from his initial appearance to his defeat of Cell. Rice, being a grain, is not normally considered to be a vegetable, even though it is a common food. However, as the word "vegetable" is a culinary term, and not a botanical term, the name can also continue the naming scheme for Saiyan characters, which derives names from puns on vegetables. In conceptualizing for Gohan's character, Toriyama originally included glasses or a jacket to his apparel, and commonly, his hair is spiked up as seen in the final design. However, Toriyama later decided against it, finding the character unsuited for the role in comparison to his father. As opposed to full-blooded Saiyans, whose hair stays the same from birth, Gohan's is drawn at varying lengths, and changes markedly in style. On Namek, Gohan is portrayed in battle armor worn by Frieza's henchmen, having been given it by Vegeta in preparation for their encounter with Frieza. Prior to his second fight with Majin Buu , Gohan asks Kibito for an outfit resembling his father's, and is then drawn in a keikogi identical to Goku's. Gohan possesses superhuman strength and durability, as well as superhuman speed and reflexes, as seen during his training with his younger brother Goten.
