Paul Hernandez. Paul Hernandez is a former faculty member, an educational consultant, and vice president of academic and student affairs at Mount Wachusett Community College in Massachusetts. Prior to earning his degrees, he was engulfed in gangs and deep poverty, surviving on the streets of Los Angeles.
Before he earned a Ph. In his own words: "Administrators and teachers often spoke of me as a thing rather than a person. They struggled to connect with me and my homeboys or to help us see a world beyond the Los Angeles ghettos we called home. Rather than trying alternative methods to connect with students like us, our schools funneled most resources toward college-track students. They went on visits to universities, museums, and corporate headquarters, while we were sentenced to meaningless repetition tasks. Eventually, I dropped out. But Paul Hernandez never forgot those early years or the things that seemed unjust. Now he directs his academic work toward engaging students like him and his friends, providing them with the opportunities and experiences that support educational success.
Associate Professor, Teaching, Learning, and Culture. Paul R. Hernandez received his Ph. Hernandez teaching graduate courses in measurement, research design, and statistics. His research focuses on the contextual factors, developmental relationships, and motivational processes that support and broaden participation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics STEM careers - particularly for students from groups historically underrepresented in STEM. Hernandez is on the editorial board of a top-tier journal in Educational Psychology. Research Teaching Research Interests. EDCI Analysis and Reporting for Records of Study Analysis of field-generated and existing data, classroom observations, empirical tests, and discussions; links theoretical and practical educational theory to analyses of qualitative and quantitative data; teacher-leaders interpretation of classroom phenomena using research-based theories for teaching and learning.
